1. Prepare a full quantity of either the Sugar Free Sweetened Condensed Milk or Dairy Free Sweetened Condensed Milk. Let cool completely to room temperature
2. To a small saucepan, add the sugar free sweetened condensed milk, unsalted butter, cocoa powder and salt. Stir to combine
3. Place pan on stovetop set to medium low heat. Cook and stir constantly until mixture blends and thickens. Test by dragging a finger across the back of a spoon. If it is thick enough then the line will remain clean
4. Remove the pot from the stovetop and let the mixture cool to room temperature. Cover with cling wrap and refrigerate for one to two hours or until truffle mixture is firm
5. Butter your hands. Using a tablespoon measuring spoon, scoop out the chilled mixture, and roll the brigadeiro into a smooth ball
6. Coat the brigadeiro in whichever optional coating you prefer by placing the individual fudge ball into the bowl with the chocolate shavings, ground nuts, cocoa powder or dried coconut flakes. Roll the fudge ball to coat well. Place onto a flat surface and refrigerate for one hour before serving
